Back to my old self...

Sorry about that last blog yesterday. I tried on the suit again today (in the comfort of my own home with much better lighting in comparison to that dressing room), and it's not as bad as it looked yesterday.

I am still excited about the triathlon!!!! In fact, I was on the phone with one of my best friends this morning, and we were catching each other up on what's going on in our lives. I told her about my plan to do a triathlon next year.
Friend: "But you hate swimming!"
Me: "I know, but I'm going to get over my fear."
Friend: "But you really Hate swimming!"
Me: "Just wait..."

Bring on the triathlon training!!!!

I also failed to mention yesterday that I had a great 5K run on the treadmill. I ran the whole thing at a 10 min/mile pace (well I kicked it up for the last 0.1 miles). This may not seem fast to many of you, but seeing as I had been keeping between a 11-12 minute/mile pace recently, it was a little bit more difficult. Yesterday's run felt great! Then I have a fantastic pilates class!

Today was just arms and abs, since I have plans later. Tomorrow is scheduled for a nice 10 mile run. I can't wait!

  1. This is a great blog site Jes! I have decided to take on my first tri as well as half marathon this year too. And the swim thing...well that DEFINITELY scares me too but work and perseverance pay off. Good luck to you in your training. 10:00 miles is a great accomplishment.

  4. Good job on the run and glad the suit looked better at home -- they always do.

As per your question on my blog concerning IT stretches: There are many different ways to stretch the band, but one that I find most effective is to lay on your back, cross one leg over the other at the knee, so that the raised, crossed leg is at a 45 degree angle. Then, reach one arm through your legs and one to the outside and pull in on your hamstring. For an extra stretch, extend the "under" leg up like you're stretching your hammy.

Hope that's a good explanation. It's hard to describe a stretch -- easier to see it.
