This blog was started as a way of keeping myself motivated to keep working out, and the blog has been successful in that aspect. I started running in 2007, and it really has transformed my life. I have discovered so many inspiring individuals through the "blog world" and many delicious recipes. I use this blog to keep track of my training and write about the fun things in life. Keep checking back to read about my training for my first marathon, in February 2011.

Happy Early Birthday To Me!
I had been contemplating actually going to a running store and getting fitted for new shoes for a while now. My first pair of running shoes were purchased at Wal-mart (dumb idea) since I didn't have a lot of money, and I wanted to make sure I was going to stick with running. The next two pairs of shoes were purchased during a buy-one-get-one-half-off deal at Shoe Carnival. They were New Balance running shoes, and I was pretty pleased with them, especially with the price. It was about time for new shoes, and I figured I'd drive to Track Shack to check out their shoes and get fitted as a birthday gift to myself.
Well today Joe sent me an e-mail telling me that Track Shack was celebrating it's 30 year anniversary and everything in the store was 20% off. (Joe is the one who first challenged me to a race and should probably be given credit for this amazing running addiction. LOL) I took this as a sign that I should get new shoes! As soon as I got off of work my roommate and I met up with Joe and we all went out to Track Shack. The employees there were excellent! They fitted me for shoes and had me try a few different pairs. I ended up getting a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 10s! I absolutely LOVE them! Also... they are purple, which happens to be my favorite color!!!! I could not be more excited! I even took a picture with my camera phone and sent it to a few friends who I knew would get a laugh out of that (And Amy, I am one of those text-messaging crazy people. lol. Now that I have a camera phone... watch out world!)
So I am declaring a "Happy Early Birthday" to myself today!!!! (Note: My birthday isn't until September 18th... wink wink).

Isn't it amazing how new shoes can lift your spirits? If you're like me, when your actual birthday rolls around, you'll stop counting today's shoes as a b-day present! Ha!
ReplyDeleteHaha, you're right Tom... by the time my birthday comes around I will find something else I'm sure I "deserve" as a birthday gift this year. LOL. For example, hang gliding... before September 18th, it will happen!
ReplyDeleteYeah, go hang-gliding! And text me a pic of it ;)
