Then I ordered the "Hass Havocados and Harts of Palm" salad (described as tossed in aged red wine vinegar on a bed of shaved cabbage and topped with fresh Parmesan). YUM!!! Definitely heavy on the delicious avocados. Mmm Mmm Mmm! I also tried the "Blackened Shrimp Bruschetta" (described as blackened jumbo prawns served with a fresh tomato bruschetta over crostini finished with a balsamic glaze). YUM! Sadly, I did not take a picture until I had eaten one and given one away. (Also, I am not becoming a foody blogger...I don't cook enough delicious meals. lol. I just recently discovered some really good recipes and restaurants thanks to other bloggers, and I thought I would give it a shot.) I also sampled the "Sharp Cheddar Steak Salad" which was quite delicious! It was a really wonderful evening, and I'm so glad we got to hang out with such great friends.
Now, about my first group run! I got to Cady Way Trail wayyyyyy early. While at least 12 people had said they were going to show up (according to the last time I looked at the RSVP) only about 7 showed up. They were doing a down and back run for either a total of 4 or 6 miles. I headed out with the pack and quickly realized they were much faster than me. I managed to stay somewhat with them until the two mile mark before heading back. I somehow managed to forget to press "start" on Garmy until 1.25 miles. From there until the two mile mark, I averaged a 8:35 pace (fast for me!). I am pretty sure we probably averaged close to that for the first two miles. A couple people had turned back before me (they were faster). All the rest headed for the three mile mark. I averaged 9:19 for the last two miles. I was really hot by the time I finished, thanks to my sweatshirt. After I joined the group for a bagel and coffee. Then I came home, took a shower, and crawled back into bed with Chris. For some reason, I have not been sleeping very well. I think I have definitely caught up on sleep this weekend though!
I enjoyed the running group, and I look forward to going again. I am hoping that there will be a few more people next time that maybe are a bit slower (lol), but it will be a great way to help me increase my pace.
I hope you all had as wonderful of a weekend as I did! Again, congrats to all the Running Princesses out there! I will be there next year!
Thanks for the comment!
ReplyDeletethis post made me really hungry for some good food.
I'm afraid to join a running group for that reason, I don't want to get left behind! :) I hear it's really good motivation to join one. Keep it up!
