I have a $50 gift certificate to be used on Amazon. I thought it would be nice to buy myself something for running, and I started looking at hydration belts. I will probably want one when I get to my longer runs. I found one that seems to have pretty good reviews (Nathan Speed 2?), but it only has two water containers. Having never used any type of hydration belt before, I'm not sure which I should use. I probably do not drink enough on runs, simply because I hate carrying water bottles. I don't usually carry one unless I'm going over 6 miles, and that's only if I do not have my run planned to lap by my home or somewhere else I have a bottle of water stashed. Do you think two bottles is too little? Have any of you tried this particular belt?
Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!
Oh I just saw that they have a 4 bottle belt as well (sadly not in pink)!
This blog was started as a way of keeping myself motivated to keep working out, and the blog has been successful in that aspect. I started running in 2007, and it really has transformed my life. I have discovered so many inspiring individuals through the "blog world" and many delicious recipes. I use this blog to keep track of my training and write about the fun things in life. Keep checking back to read about my training for my first marathon, in February 2011.
I had a runner friend in pastry school that swore by the Camelback. They make a "racerback" variety, so you can still have pleanty of freedom on movement in the shoulder blade/arm area.
ReplyDeleteMy mom has one of the ones designed for hiking, and she love it.
I was going to buy a 4 bottle belt. My sister has one for marathons and she likes it a lot. I HATE carrying water bottles too. My arm gets tired and I have to keep switching. I've heard about the handhelds working fairly well. I haven't decided on anything to buy yet, so I'm no help. That one looks cute though!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments! My friend pointed out that her boyfriend (who is a marathon runner) always plans his runs around places he can stop for water. At the moment I'm thinking that I will start with that. I noticed on my eight mile run the other day that I passed three grocery stores and a park which all have public bathrooms and water fountains. Of course I can see where the fuel belt would really come in handy for carrying gels in the little pocket as well as sports drinks. I guess I'm still up in the air. I think I'd like to go to a store and try on a belt first.
